About Jamaal
Jamaal is a multidisciplinary creative blending science, storytelling, and street culture. With a degree in Biology and minor in Sociology, his work is rooted in observation-how environments shape identity, behavior, and survival.
While completing his studies, he wrote Bright Lights Ina Ocean, a poem reflecting inner-city life through the language of nature. An illustration inspired by the poem evolved into a streetwear line, transforming poetic reflection into wearable art. The brand continues to emerge as a form of social commentary-carrying messages of resilance, loss, and visibility into everyday spaces.
At its core, Jamaal's work is a reminder that we are all bright lights, even when navigating difficult environments. Through fashion, he turns lived experience into a statement-one that moves through the world with purpose.

While the temperature lessens the oceans freeze
Shots fly high like an ocean breeze...
The poem and graphic collection illustrates the struggle of the inner cities as we reflect our environment, whether that be gun violence or a lost loved one. At the end of the day, we are all bright lights, but sometimes we get lost in our environment, the ocean.
